Ákos Fekecs

Budapest-born drummer, composer and handpan player Ákos Fekecs brings jazz, layered rhythms and ensemble experience to solo performance and teaching.

Ákos Fekecs is a Hungarian drummer, composer, producer and handpan player, born in Budapest. His background includes formal percussion studies and training at Kőbánya Music Studio, followed by extensive work in bands and recording sessions. Alongside this activity, he teaches drums and handpan, including courses at Pure Tone Handpan School. He began playing handpan in 2020 and formed the Fekecs Ákos Life Project in 2021 to perform music written for the instrument. This repertoire combines reflective passages with changing rhythmic patterns and harmonies, extending a musical language already shaped by jazz and improvisation. His wider projects include Duohh and the Fekecs Ákos Project. The latter won the Laureate World-Jazz competition in Amersfoort in 2018. His official catalogue also documents solo compositions such as Reverse, while his work for theatre and the nature film Hegyizene connects instrumental performance with music for the stage and screen.
