Atakan Teoman

Atakan Teoman is a Berlin-based Turkish percussionist and handpan artist whose conservatory and orchestral background informs recordings and live performance.

Born in Çanakkale, Atakan Teoman began with violin lessons before studying percussion at the Turkish Armed Forces School of Music. He later played in the Selimiye military band in Istanbul and studied at Istanbul University State Conservatory, working with Engin Gürkey on percussion, Ramiz Melik Aslanov on orchestral practice and Feride Özbaykal on harmony. His biography records performances with the conservatory ensemble at Beethovenfest and FIMU, as well as appearances with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras. Based in Berlin, he brings this percussion background to both live drumming and handpan recordings. His catalogue includes The Hidden, Jungle Bliss and Melodic Memories, alongside instrumental arrangements of Aria Math and Sweden. His self-published musician profile lists drum kit, darbuka, djembe, bongos and bendir alongside handpans, documenting a practice that extends across melodic and unpitched percussion.
