Bruno Ferreira

Portuguese-born handpan composer, percussionist and teacher based in Switzerland, connecting classical training, jazz and the solo album Gnome’s Journey.

Bruno Ferreira is a Portuguese-born percussionist, composer and teacher based in Switzerland. His musical path led from classical percussion studies in Espinho to jazz training in Montreux and Lausanne, followed by studies in performance, composition and pedagogy at HEMU. His current work centres on handpan and original composition. Gnome’s Journey, his 2026 solo handpan album, presents eleven pieces including Into the Fog, Dancing Souls and Tears of Silence. The project draws on classical, jazz and world music influences, with nature and imagination as its stated themes. Teaching is another part of his practice: he offers individual handpan lessons in Lausanne and Geneva, alongside workshops. These sessions address touch, sound, groove, improvisation and composition; group work also explores listening and collective music-making. His activities connect the recording studio, solo performance and the transmission of practical musical skills.
