Corazonido

Corazonido is the project of Chilean musician Claudio Escobar, combining handpan melodies, electronic textures and collaborations with flute and violin.

Corazonido is the musical project of Claudio Escobar, a musician and producer from Curicó, Chile, also known as Kao. He began the project in 2020, placing the handpan at the centre of his compositions and stage work. His album Más allá del Sol combines melodic percussion with electronic elements and guest flute and violin. The concert format presented in his AMA Maule artist profile brings together four handpans in different scales, an electronic setup and didgeridoo, with Alexa Boutaud on violin and Maria Elena Arce on transverse flute. His catalogue also includes Handpan Abduction, whose pieces range from Pandub and Avanza to Bosque pequeño and Handpan Trance, as well as an acoustic version of The moon and the whale and a live recording of Desierto Groove Symphonic. Cultural programmes in Curicó have presented concerts dedicated to the project. Across recordings and live arrangements, Corazonido explores the relationship between the handpan’s acoustic resonance, layered rhythms and electronic production.
