Handpan 360

Handpan 360 is Peter Levitov’s education and instrument project, connecting handpan lessons, immersive workshops and shared music-making.

Peter Levitov discovered the handpan in 2008 and developed a practice centred on listening, improvisation and playing with others. Handpan 360 grew from this interest in learning through direct musical experience. The history of HangOut USA records his move to Asheville to work as a street performer, his involvement in gathering logistics and the launch of Handpan 360 as an immersive workshop format. The project brings together instrument selection, private tuition, online learning and community gatherings. Levitov offers lessons in Gainesville, Florida, and remotely via Zoom, with recordings that allow students to revisit the material at their own pace. Technique and rhythmic foundations sit alongside creative exploration and collaborative playing. The project’s educational videos extend this approach beyond individual lessons, giving players ways to discover the instrument and develop their own musical ideas.
