Matt Venuti is an American composer, solo performer and bandleader whose work has long centred on unusual acoustic and electronic instruments. He was among the early musicians to bring the Hang into concert and contemplative settings, later expanding his palette with the Gubal, Hang-inspired instruments, electronic wind instruments, singing bowls and live looping. His performances range from rhythmically active ensemble work to spacious solo sound journeys, often designed for attentive listening in theatres, ceremonies and quieter public environments. He has also led projects such as The Venusians and created programs that combine original music with immersive visual or spatial presentation. Rather than belonging to one genre, his practice links ambient, world and electronic traditions through a consistent interest in resonance, texture and emotional atmosphere.
