Maxime Le Royer explores handpan duets, guitar and improvisation, alongside rhythm workshops and sound journeys developed with his partner Iris.

Maxime Le Royer is a multi-instrumentalist whose recordings connect handpan, guitar and improvisation. He spent ten years performing and teaching music in the Caribbean before continuing his work through travel, solo concerts and collaborations. Life Is Good, recorded with Peter Levitov, brings together handpan compositions and improvisations developed during their sessions in 2013, with guitar, didgeridoo and cello also appearing. Their collaboration continues on David’s 9. His guitar album Rêve uses repeating phrases and improvisation, while other releases include Equilibrium and Golden Gate Goodness for the Goddess. Alongside recording, he works with his partner Iris on IMpulse, combining rhythm practice, attentive listening and sound workshops. Their musical sessions can include voice, handpan, didgeridoo and other acoustic instruments. His work moves between gently unfolding melodies and more rhythmic duets, with an emphasis on listening, musical exchange and the direct experience of playing together.
