Ravid Goldschmidt

Israeli handpan musician Ravid Goldschmidt combines resonant solo compositions, concert work and teaching through his Handpan Barcelona project.

Ravid Goldschmidt is an Israeli percussionist who left his country to study and help make the Hang in Switzerland. In 2003 he worked with its creators, then developed his own playing method. His activity connects concerts, workshops and music for film and television. His recordings trace different facets of that work: Ravid Hang includes The Lost Tribe and Vestida de Nit, while Calm Upon You brings together Aya, Alma and a solo piece sharing the album's title. Sea of Tranquility, released in 2023, offers 21 pieces including Fall, Heart and Reflections. Its sequence gives space to short, individually titled compositions rather than a single extended performance. Teaching is another part of his musical life. At Handpan Barcelona, in the Gràcia district, he offers in-person and online lessons for children, couples, amateurs and professional musicians. This combination of recording, live performance and accessible instruction keeps the instrument central to both his artistic practice and his encounters with new players.
