Rosie Bergonzi is a British percussionist and handpan artist whose classical training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama supports an unusually broad performance practice. She has worked in orchestras, theatre pits, pop touring, chamber settings and community projects, moving comfortably between formal notation and spontaneous improvisation. Since beginning handpan in 2014, Bergonzi has developed solo and ensemble work that treats the instrument as part of the wider percussion family. Her projects include Boubakiki, PortaBanda and The Beaten Track, while educational programmes and Handpan Fundamentals make technique, musicianship and creativity accessible to new players. She has also composed and performed concert-scale work for handpan, helping place the instrument in settings beyond its usual solo or wellness contexts. Playfulness, technical clarity and collective music-making are recurring features across her work.
