Sam Maher is an Australian drummer, percussionist and handpan musician whose path developed through live performance, travel and busking. After working in Perth’s music scene, he took the instrument through the Americas and other regions, refining a style that combines strong groove, precise touch and emotionally clear melodic phrases. A widely shared performance in the New York subway introduced many listeners to his playing, but the larger body of work includes international concerts, workshops and collaborations. Maher’s music often feels rhythmically grounded before opening into spacious melodic development, making it suitable for both attentive listening and more propulsive performance settings.
