Handpan duo combining voice, melody, rhythm and acoustic instruments in warm performances shaped by nature, connection, movement and shared improvisation.

Mea is a duo formed by Marketa and Lea Valentina after they met at a handpan festival in France in 2019. Their music brings handpans together with voice, flute, guitar, mouth harp and additional percussion, creating an acoustic language that moves between quiet intimacy and more rhythmic, dance-oriented passages. Both musicians contribute to melody, texture and arrangement, and their performances often emphasise connection with audiences, natural settings and the contrast between silence and wildness. Rather than presenting the handpan as a self-contained solo instrument, Mea treats it as part of a broader ensemble palette. Their work is rooted in collaboration and shared listening, with songs and improvised sections supporting one another. The result is accessible and communal, while still leaving room for exploratory combinations of timbre and rhythm.
