Flavio Salvaje

Born in Bern and based in Ibiza, Flavio Salvaje connects expressive handpan composition, acoustic improvisation and electronic music with holistic teaching.

Flavio Salvaje is a handpan artist and teacher born in Bern, Switzerland, with Spanish heritage and a base in Ibiza. His early experience with drums led to DJing and electronic production before he discovered the handpan in late 2017. His recordings explore both the acoustic instrument and its dialogue with produced sound. Cruise Slowly, made with Onanya, documents an improvised session on Yishama handpans recorded aboard a boat on dry land. His collaboration with producer Lab’s Cloud on Kalima brings handpan melodies into ambient and downtempo arrangements. PRAYERS: Chapter I continues his personal catalogue, alongside releases including On the way. As a Yishama sound messenger, he also shares his relationship with the maker’s instruments. Teaching forms another part of his work: individual sessions in Ibiza, group workshops and online training address technique, rhythm, improvisation and composition. His approach invites players to listen closely, develop their own expression and connect musical practice with personal experience.
