Waagal

French multi-instrumentalist Erwann Texier-Harth blends handpan, didgeridoo, percussion and electronic textures in his solo musical project Waagal.

Waagal is the solo project of French multi-instrumentalist Erwann Texier-Harth. His performances bring together handpan, didgeridoo, guitar, kashakas and other percussion, with instruments played simultaneously to build layered rhythmic arrangements. Melodic handpan phrases meet sustained wind sounds and interlocking percussion patterns, while synthesizers extend the acoustic palette. His music draws on world music and progressive rhythms, combining instrumental composition with throat singing and an interest in ancient or reconstructed languages. The recordings explore this meeting of organic sound and electronic texture across albums, EPs and singles. Ens appeared in 2015, followed by releases including Monad in 2021 and Echoes from Past in 2025. Monad credits Texier-Harth with all instruments and includes pieces such as Mythopoeïa, Ritual and Analemma. Waagal's catalogue documents a broad solo practice in which the handpan forms part of a larger, carefully interwoven instrumental language.
