Kirill Osherov

Russian handpan player and percussionist Kirill Osherov connects finger technique, traditional drums and melodic exploration through recordings and teaching.

Kirill Osherov is a Russian percussionist and handpan musician whose work draws on traditional drum techniques. After studying percussion, he attended Labyrinth workshops in Crete in 2010, learning from musicians including Pedram Khavarzamini and Zohar Fresco. He began exploring melody on the Hang in 2016. His 2020 album Natural State presents nine pieces, including Arcana, Riddle, Pulse and Farewell, with both music and artwork credited to him. The recording explores rhythmic patterns through a percussion-led sound world. In Groove Garden with Andrey Tanzu, handpan meets frame drums, tombak and other percussion, bringing distinct instrumental traditions into an experimental setting. His Percussive Fingerstyle course follows a similarly practical approach: shifting accents, finger rolls, polyrhythms and irregular metres become material for compositions. Across these projects, precision of touch and rhythmic variety support melodic expression, connecting solo work, ensemble interaction and the transmission of technique.
